This technical document explains the methods to update a NetSupport DNA installation to the latest version. There are two alternative methods to update a NetSupport DNA installation to the latest version:

Configure NetSupport DNA to hide new installed applications automatically

In previous versions of NetSupport DNA when new Software applications were installed onto Clients machines they would be automatically added to the DNA Console view. This could cause unwanted applications to be shown in the Software Inventory.

Unable to Pin NetSupport Software Programs to the Windows 7 Taskbar

Windows 7 includes a feature that allows you to pin your most commonly used programs to the Taskbar. This is achieved by right clicking on the program shortcut and selecting Pin to Taskbar.

Setting Up NetSupport School version 4.50 to 10.01 to run in a Microsoft Terminal Server environment

It is possible to use NetSupport School/Inform 4.50 to 10.01 to Control Microsoft Terminal Server clients. This is done by running an instance of the NetSupport School/Inform Student as an Application in each Terminal server session. The NetSupport Student is configured to listen on a different TCP port in each terminal server session.

The Audio Control Feature was introduced with NetSupport School version 10.50, this feature allows the Tutor to identify when sound is being played on one of the connected Student machines and to then monitor the Audio played at the Student. The Audio Activity monitored by the Tutor can also be recorded and played back to the Students.

Cannot deploy from a Windows 7 workstation to a Windows XP or Windows 2000 workstation in a workgroup environment

When you try and deploy a NetSupport Package from a Windows 7 workstation to a Windows XP or 2000 workstation that is in a Workgroup you will be prompted to enter a Username and Password of an account that has administrator rights to the machine. However the user details will not be accepted and the NetSupport Deploy tool will again prompt for a Username and password.

In NetSupport School 9.00 and above the location of where the Tutor Configuration is stored in the registry was changed. This change was made for Environments where Users would not have rights to write to the Local Machine, but would have rights to write to their logged on users Profile.
