Summary

A new NSM ADM Template has been created and provided with the NetSupport Manager 9 release. If you used the previous NSMPolicy.adm file provided with the earlier release of NSM then we recommend updating to the new NSMMaster.adm template after updating your Clients to NSM 9.

The NSMMaster.adm file can be found in Program Folder for NSM 9 by default this will be found in the following directory: c:\program files\netsupport manager\nsmmaster.adm

In order to safely update from the original NSMPolicy ADM template to the new NSMMaster template please follow the steps provided below.

Details

  1. At the Domain Controller, select the Active Directory Users and Computers tool.
  2. Decide at which level to apply the policies, domain or organisational. Right-click and select the Group Policy tab.
  3. Select the desired policy to add the NetSupport template to and click Edit,
  4. In the Group Policy Editor under Computer Configuration, select Administrative Templates.
  5. Right-click and select Add/Remove Templates.
  6. Click Add and specify the location of NetSupport v9 NSMMASTER.ADM file and click Open. The new NetSupport policy will be added.
  7. Click Close.
  8. The new NSM 9 ADM Template will be added under the “Master Profile v9” section in the Group Policy editor
  9. Before removing the old NSMPOLICY.ADM file ensure that any configurations from the original NSMPOLICY.ADM file have been copied to the new NSMMASTER.ADM.
  10. Once the configurations have been copied ensure that all the enabled or disabled policies for the old template are set to “Not Configured”.
  11. It is now safe to remove NSMPolicy.adm file from Group policy

**It has been found that if the NSMpolicy.adm file is just removed from group policy with policies still in the enabled state then these policies will not be removed from the Client registry.
