Software Inventory problem following a system time change for daylight saving

Summary

In Regions where computers are set to automatically adjust time for daylight savings it has been found that an error can occur in the NetSupport DNA Software Inventory detection. This error will result in the Software inventory for client machines being cleared down and applications incorrectly reported in the Software History as being un-installed.

As the NetSupport DNA Client will normally only send changes to its software inventory to the server, this error will cause the Software inventory for an affected machine to only show those applications that where detected after the Time change.

Resolution

An update for the DNA Client is now available and this update will force the Client machines to send a full software inventory instead of the change only data at its next software inventory scan. This will resolve the problem of incomplete Software inventory data being displayed in the NetSupport DNA Console.

To Apply this update:

1. Run a NetSupport DNA Console.
2. From the Help menu select "Check for Updates"
3. Apply the Daylight Time savings Update.

Once this update is applied by one console the server and clients will be automatically updated.

If the Check for updates is not available please follow the procedure below to update you DNA installation.

1. Download either the SmartUpdateEN.zip (English) or SmartUpdateDE.Zip (German) dependant on your installed version of NetSupport DNA.
2. Extract the SmartUpdate.dll File from the downloaded zip file to a temporary folder.
3. Stop the NetSupport DNA Server Service
4. Copy the SmartUpdate.dll file from your temporary folder to the DNA Servers Components folder (default: Program files\NetSupport DNA\DNA\Server\Components)
5. Start the DNA Server Service
6. Each time a DNA Client connects it will download the new SmartUpdate.dll and update its selft to the latest version.
