Supported Distributions

The Client Discovery and Deploy feature of NetSupport DNA does not currently support deploying to Linux workstations. However NetSupport do provide a deploy utility that can be run on a Microsoft windows workstation,to remotely install the NetSupport DNA Client on a Linux workstation. This utility can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this document.

Details

To use this Deploy utility Secure Shell (SSH) needs to be enabled on the target Linux client. SSH uses TCP port 22 if there are any firewalls between the Windows workstation and the target Linux workstation, these firewalls must be configured to allow this connection.

The Deploy utility uses the following syntax

Deploy [Target] [username] [password] [ServerAddress] reboot

Target This is the IP Address of the machine that you want to install the client to.
username This is the username of the support user on the target linux workstation usually Root.
password This is the password for the specified superuse on the target linux workstation.
ServerAddress This is the IP Address of the DNA Server that you want the Deployed DNA Client to connect to.
reboot This paramater is optional, when specified it will force the linux client to reboot at the end of the installation, If this parameter is not specified the DNA Client will not start until the Linux workstation is restarted.

To use this utility please follow the procedure below.

  1. Download the DNAInstall.zip file (link at the bottom of this page).
  2. Extract the contents of this zip file to a folder on the Windows workstation.
  3. On the windows workstation, open a command prompt and Navigate to the folder where you extracted the files.
  4. Execute the Deploy.exe file with the required command line parameters.
